Our Mission

The mission of CPFUMC Play & Learn Preschool is to allow each child to grow physically, emotionally, socially, creatively, cognitively, and spiritually while exploring the world at his/her own level of development in a loving Christian environment. We approach each child as an individual and strive to recognize their own talents and needs.

At Play & Learn, we genuinely believe that play IS the work of children. We understand the demands of today’s Kindergarten experience and work towards exceeding those demands while maintaining a loving environment full of play and creativity. We offer morning and afternoon sessions for children 3 and over.

Registration

All the children in our classes learn through a hands-on approach.  The teachers are trained in early childhood development and provide a variety of activities and materials from which the children may choose.  The teachers facilitate developmentally appropriate practice to ensure that each child will learn and grow at his or her own individual level.  Our preschool’s priority is to prepare each child for the next level of learning by gaining confidence in her or himself through positive learning experiences.  Our staff is friendly and knowledgeable.  You and your children will feel welcome the second you walk through the door.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Places fill fast, so please call 219-661-9044 to schedule a tour, meet our staff and check out the wonderful things happening at our school. Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will open on Jan 9th 2024. Please print and complete the registration form, while including a $50 deposit and deliver to the church office to secure your spot.

Curriculum

The curriculum of Play & Learn Preschool is based on the interest and needs of the children providing developmentally appropriate practices for each age group and adapting to the needs of individual children. We embrace the philosophy that children learn best when they are actively involved in play. Our teachers facilitate play-based learning experiences that provide children with the opportunity to work and play with other children, to express themselves creatively through art, music, dramatic play and language, to communicate feelings and ideas and to develop physical skills. At Play & Learn the emphasis will always be on the process rather than the product. Our program allows the children the opportunity to interact with the materials that are meaningful to them, because they choose activities which are of interest and enjoyable to them. There is a scheduled routine to give the children a sense of direction and confidence but spontaneity to prevent boredom.
